It seems that every country Buddhism has passed through its citizens have modified the way meditation is practiced and have added their own cultural distinctiveness to the practice as well. For example, you have certain aspects of the Bon religion in Tibetan Buddhism.

I’m glad the Buddhists texts are relatively unaltered as they should remain. But I’m just curious how Buddhism will be transformed in America. It already appears that some Christians are practicing elements of Buddhism so who knows how much Buddhism is going to change if at all.

I bring this up because some people don’t have a local sangha to practice with and I have a feeling they are just borrowing bits and pieces from each of the sects of Buddhism to incorporate into their own practice which I see nothing wrong with that.

So share your ideas and I apologize if this question seems like mindless rambling. Thanks.

I read the wikipedia version and it states that a teacher named Gakko came from Venus. I find this to be pretty silly and more along the lines of dungeons and dragons than religion. But thanks for sharing.
