Do you think America will adopt its own form of Buddhism?

buddhism in america
Lothar of the Hill People asked:

It seems that every country Buddhism has passed through its citizens have modified the way meditation is practiced and have added their own cultural distinctiveness to the practice as well. For example, you have certain aspects of the Bon religion in Tibetan Buddhism.

I’m glad the Buddhists texts are relatively unaltered as they should remain. But I’m just curious how Buddhism will be transformed in America. It already appears that some Christians are practicing elements of Buddhism so who knows how much Buddhism is going to change if at all.

I bring this up because some people don’t have a local sangha to practice with and I have a feeling they are just borrowing bits and pieces from each of the sects of Buddhism to incorporate into their own practice which I see nothing wrong with that.

So share your ideas and I apologize if this question seems like mindless rambling. Thanks.
@ Melting

That’s interesting I’ll have to check into that. Thanks for answering.
@ Iluvjesus

I agree that it’s very flexible as that is what I like about it. Thanks for answering.
@ Burning

Can you explain what some of the faults that are associated with Buddhsim and exactly what territory we need to cover? Thanks for answering.
@ Defender

Interesting! Gnostic Buddhsim. Thanks for answering.
@ Everyone

I’m asking this out of my own curiosity.
@ Melting

I read the wikipedia version and it states that a teacher named Gakko came from Venus. I find this to be pretty silly and more along the lines of dungeons and dragons than religion. But thanks for sharing.
@ James

Are you aware of twiggly the gnome who guards the entrance to the cave of knowledge?
@ Burning

I also agree that enlightenment is not withstanding as it’s more of a glimpse of reality rather than a permanent condition.

Yes, buddhism is life philosophy, it is very flexible. Change it and even give a new name to it. Just like it is completely changed when it is spread to China.

It already has in the form of self styled western zen buddhists They like to add the American concept of making money and the more the better Not that they have a clue regarding Buddhism mind
Thankfully Lord Buddha knew in this Dharma Ending Age we would have corrupted teachers to contend we hence the Pure Land Dharma He left Just for this time
Practitioners don’t need the influence of the above They are able to make progress by invoking “Another Power” Lord Buddha Amitabha which for me makes this lot surplus to requirements

edit

“Killing people and taking their stuff” Very reptilian of you

The zen communities have retained more of the chants in their services are being reminded as in the us.
For westerners many of the chants in their services are being reminded as in their heads or eat just.
