If Buddhism is all about eliminating desire, why are the monks protesting in Tibet and Myanmar?

because they like with all religions are not able to seperate their beliefs from their emotions about the issues.

Correcting injustice by vocal demonstration is not related to desire - in fact, it’s the opposite - purging anger is a selfless, enlightened act.

The cold war spread from others including tibet was assumed threat to everexpanding communist doctrines and oppressions from russia to everexpanding communist china annexed as well and placed military there.
