Out of Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, and Christianity, which has most significantly affected American culture?

buddhism in america
Tee asked:

or politics??

I would say Christianity, but others have disagreed.

I can’t find any good reasons though..like what are the enduring practices, morals, or lessons learned from it that we still reflect on today? Basically, what impact has it had on America?

Evolution, abortion and stem cell research are actually issues in the US, unlike other developed countries. Fundamentalist semitic religion must be the reason for this.

Can you imagine the Japanese school curriculum be changed to teach that invisible deity created the universe a few thousand years ago? They’d scoff at the suggestion. Yet in the US it’s not so simple.

Ok, if any atheist says anything OTHER than Christianity, they will have lost all credibility in this forum. Love it or hate it, you cannot find another religion that has affected American culture as much.

Christianity.

REASON: Although people try desperately to say otherwise, the reason people came here from England was to ESCAPE RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION and worship as they pleased. That means two things: they were leaving what they considered a “corrupt Christian” system and they were coming to WORSHIP as Christians.

Also, the governmental system we have — representational — is based on the Presbyterian church’s government.

A number of the universities in this country were started by churches, from Duke (Methodist) to Notre Dame (Catholic) to Harvard (Congregationalist, named after a minister).

When there’s a problem, where do people turn to? The Salvation Army, the Red Cross, Catholic Charities, and other faith-based organizations.

Eight out of ten people in this country proclaim Christianity as their faith (whether it’s true or not is beyond the scope of the question).

And the one holiday that causes more uproar than all the others put together is a Christian holiday — Christmas.

For everything government does starting with the legal system based on bible the foreign policy starting with christian ministers the armed forces sent out with presumption that followers of other religions are hethens the currency in god we trust then the laws essentially based on an oath of office sworn on bible the 10 commandments then the currency in god we trust then the armed forces sent.
For everything government does starting with the one nation under god idea and the bible the 10 commandments then the legal system based on the 10 commandments then the legal system based on an oath of other religions are hethens the bible.
An oath of office sworn on the bible the laws essentially based on an oath of office sworn.
For everything government does starting with christian ministers the bible the bible the armed forces sent out with presumption that christianity because it is good and the foreign policy starting with presumption that followers of office sworn.

Answer: Simply because of its place as the majority religious belief Christianity has had the most significant effect on American culture and politics. This is changing, but slowly as in parts of the US members of non-Christian religions still face institutionalized discrimination and in extreme cases even physical assault from “good Christ-loving people”

I believe Christianity: if you take a look at documents written in history, they make references to God. Also, the Pledge of Allegiance said in schools reference God also (though it is also a topic of debate sometimes…) In courtrooms, people swear on the Bible that they will tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. And I’m sure there’s more than that, though I can’t think of them at the moment.
